The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has confirmed the successful operation of the THIM mobile application, which allows foreign visitors to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) electronically. This development follows a test phase initiated in late May 2024, aimed at reducing queues and digitizing the immigration workflow at major international gateways such as Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport and Phuket International Airport.
Digital Immigration Procedures via THIM
The integration of the THIM application marks a shift toward paperless entry protocols for tourists. According to recent field reports, passport control officers have begun officially accepting the QR codes generated by the application. Upon scanning the digital code, officials provide the standard entry stamp, confirming the system's integration with the national immigration database. The TDAC system is intended to eventually replace the traditional paper TM6 forms that have historically been required upon arrival.
The application requires the following data for submission:
- Passport details and biological data.
- Flight information and arrival dates.
- Accommodation address within Thailand.
Current Visa Status and Stay Duration
In addition to the technological updates, the current regulatory framework for entry permits remains stable. Despite previous reports regarding potential policy shifts, the 60-day visa-free stay remains active for eligible citizens, including those from Russia. The proposed reduction of this grace period to 30 days has not been implemented as of June 2026. This allows travelers to maintain long-term itineraries without the immediate need for visa extensions or "visa runs" to neighboring countries.
