The telecommunications provider T2 has announced the transition of its unlimited international roaming internet option to a permanent basis. Previously offered as a temporary seasonal promotion for the summer months, the service now provides travelers with continuous data access across various global destinations without a set expiration date. This strategic shift follows a significant surge in demand, as mobile data consumption among subscribers abroad increased threefold during the initial testing phase.
Expanded Connectivity for International Travelers
Under the updated terms, subscribers can access the global network in 34 countries for a period of up to 22 days at no additional cost. This initiative is designed to simplify communication for tourists and business travelers who require consistent connectivity for navigation, messaging, and social media. According to the operator's statistics, Turkey remains the primary destination where users most frequently utilize these roaming services.
- Service Duration: Up to 22 days of complimentary access.
- Geographic Coverage: 34 supported countries worldwide.
- Consumption Trends: Data usage has grown by 300% since the pilot launch.
Strategic Shifts in Roaming Policy
The decision to make the internet option indefinite follows a broader trend of reducing communication barriers for international trips. Earlier, T2 implemented a policy to abolish roaming charges for outgoing calls across 56 countries, further expanding the utility of domestic SIM cards for those traveling outside their home region. These measures aim to compete with local prepaid cards and international travel eSIMs by providing a seamless transition across borders.
The stabilization of roaming costs remains a key factor for the tourism industry in July 2026. By removing the seasonal limitations on data packages, the provider ensures that travelers visiting both summer resorts and winter destinations can maintain access to digital services. This move reflects a growing institutional focus on high-speed data availability as an essential component of the modern travel experience.
