The move follows a broader regulatory shift, as Rosaviatsiya recently granted general authorization for direct flights to northern Egyptian gateways, including Borg El Arab and El Alamein airports. These locations serve the Mediterranean coast, often referred to as the "Egyptian Riviera", offering a climatic alternative to the traditional Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh.
Industry analysts suggest that the introduction of the Tu-214 narrow-body jet on these routes aligns with current fleet utilization strategies for medium-haul international destinations.
