Bus to Feodosiia — what you need to know

Feodosiia is an ancient port city in eastern Crimea, one of the world's oldest cities, founded by Greeks in the 6th century BC and later known as the Genoese Caffa.

About Feodosiia

Feodosiia is one of the oldest cities in Crimea and the Black Sea region, founded by Greek colonists in the 6th century BC. As Caffa, it became the most important trading centre of the Genoese Republic on the Black Sea in the 13th–15th centuries and one of the largest cities in Eurasia at the time. Today, numerous Genoese towers and fortress walls survive throughout the city, giving it a unique Mediterranean character.

Feodosiia is known as the city of Aivazovsky — the great marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky was born here and spent most of his life in the city. The gallery he bequeathed to the city remains one of the most visited museums in Crimea. The Feodosiia seafront with its sandy beaches, stretching nearly 15 km, is the city's main resort attraction.

The city is also a railway hub with direct connections to Kerch and Simferopol.
