Bus to Enerhodar — what you need to know

Enerhodar is a city on the shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, built as a satellite of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

About Enerhodar

Enerhodar is a young planned city on the left bank of the Dnipro, founded in 1970 in connection with the construction of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant — the largest NPP in Europe. The city was designed as an ideal "garden city" for energy workers: wide tree-lined boulevards, parks, compact housing and well-developed social infrastructure set Enerhodar apart from most industrial cities of the region.

The Zaporizhzhia NPP is situated directly beside the city and is the most powerful nuclear power station on the continent, with six reactor units and a total capacity of 6,000 MW. The plant produced around a fifth of the region's electricity. Since the outbreak of armed conflict in 2022 the station has been the subject of heightened international attention.

The city is set on the picturesque shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir, where beaches and recreation zones were popular with residents of the entire region in summer. The Enerhodar waterfront and city parks are the main leisure areas for local residents.
